Eze is like watching Trevor brooking no great pace but walked past players, I just love watching Eze with the ball looks so so easy, as for defending well not the best in the world but im happy with that, he does enough

Could be. But I think McArthur, Beneteke and probably Luka will prove to be better than the much-hyped replacements. An embarassment of riches!

If Ferg/Olise/Eduard live up to their billing, I’d like to see something like this against weaker oppo.
Ferguson, Andersson, Guehi, Mitchell Gallagher Luka Eze Olise Zaha Edouard That front 4 could be unbelievably dynamic In the harder games I’d likely have Ayew in for Olise, and Macca/Hughes in for Eze.

If it's the Eze we saw last season then I think he becomes undroppable. I guess he's seen as a defensive liability. That I think could be slightly out. A point I made upthread is that this season we are defending in a quite different way and he can still be effective defensively in a press. It's more when you rely on flat banks on 4 that he stands out as a weakness.

When Eze returns, I hope the manager won't bother him too much with defensive duties. That's not his game - let him flow like that goal vs the Blades.

Based on everything we've seen of Benteke over the last few years, where he has proved beyond doubt (except you) that he is utterly useless in fulfilling the basic requirement of his position, you still doubt that the chap who bagged a brace on his debut will be any better? Did you also think that there was no one who could do a better job at Palace than Roy too? Specifically, how would Benteke 'prove' that he is better than the likes of Edouard? Because he's going to need to do something that he hasn't been able to do for years to 'prove' that.

I actually think a few on this thread are underrated Eze's defensive abilities. I saw him drop back and dispossess people several times last season. Ideally he wouldn't have to, obviously. Can't wait for him to be back anyway. Plays with the carefree attitude and smile on his face that Wilf did once upon a time.

Guaita gained us quite a few points last year if you look back, yet you keep wanting him out??? Strange...

I just hope we don’t bring him back too quick. Don’t get me wrong we will benefit from his return massively but only when he is properly fit. A few run outs in the under 23s will be good just to get him 100%. Then bam watch him alongside Gallager Zaha Edouard Olise. Doesn’t bear thinking about.

Edited by the silurian (27 Sep 2021 4.04pm) I totally agree. Guaita has been wonderful for us for a few years and one bad goal clearance ???
