A confused performance, apparently moving away from everything worked on pre - season, both in formation and tactical approach.
It’s too early to draw conclusions, particularly against a dominant Chelsea.
It will be a concern though if we still look as confused and disorganised 6 games in.
I do believe Andersen, Gallagher and Benteke will make a difference along with hopefully a couple of additions in the next couple of weeks.

A disappointing, but not surprising, result today. From the radio commentary it sounded like we were outclassed, but I take solace from the fact that we had a few players eg Eze, Gallagher out.

At least PV tried Rak-Sakyi to show us he's from a different mould to Roy. We'll be OK when we settle into the new way.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Confused sums it up. You play all friendlies playing quicker passing football, getting the ball to the forwards quicker pressing the other team high up the pitch......and our first league game we go back to royball. Every time we got anywhere near their box we turned round and came back again...I know they're a really good team, but we made them look so much better

Yep those 3 starting will improve us no end. Andersen impressed in his short time on the pitch today.

A brutally tough game today where Chelsea simply did not let us breathe.

Zaha's miss at 2-0 sums up to me why he's still with us and not a 'top' team.

A very frustrating display but I'm afraid that's what can happen against a team who are superior in pretty much every position. We won't be the last team Chelsea destroy this season. It is a reminder though that we definitely need to add further quality... especially if we're to shift between a back 4 and back 5 thorough the season.

Time to dust ourselves down and prepare for next week which will give us a much better indication of how we'll get on this season.

Apart from Guehi all the players played for Mr Hodgson last season and before that.

The only positive today was the fans who deserve a lot more We were outclassed.Zaha looked disinterested as is increasingly the norm, and our lack of passion and effort was alarming Guehi and Andersen apart Though written off by some already for relegation
Ayew and Mateta will hopefully be replaced asap Gallagher and Olise will enhance our poor midfield and surely we can only improve With a fit Eze we should have enough ammunition to survive

Very tough watch but it is clear as mud that we need a new left full back, Mitchell is not good enough at this level and it is criminal to have no replacement for him.

There were not many positives from that game but I would happily never see Mateta or Schlupp play football ever again.

Wow, who would you like at LB, Kenny Sansom, Dean Gordon? Mitchell is & will be our preferred LB along with Hannam pushing him all the way.

Ist game in & you are already blaming a player . . . Jeez

It will take 6/8 games to get a realistic opinion, we just played in my opinion probably the best team in the world at the moment, big improvement in second half. Anderson looks class, with, Gallagher, Olise, Eze and maybe a loan or two, Michell had a bad game, think if we start as 3-4-3, Sclupp or Hannam willget the roll

Brentford at home next, that will also be a really tough game. I watched them play Arsenal, they have a spring in their step.

We could win that but I don't think it's a given. We will have to be at our best but we will have a few more options, in Andersen and Gallagher..

Arsenal were terrible and missing their 2 best strikers and cant defend. They thought they just had to turn up for the points.
