The legislatures for those states should be ashamed of themselves I am not saying fraud I am calling incompetence on the system they have implemented. Here’s your answer. Another irony ‘much of the stress, agitation and uncertainty about the election result in the United States over the past two days did not have to happen. The drawn-out ballot counts we saw and are seeing in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania do not owe to the races being particularly close in those states, which they were not, but to artificially produced bottlenecks. The long counts are another kind of voter suppression, the product of rules imposed in those states by Republican-controlled legislatures that in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania allowed for no early processing of the mail-in vote – despite the pandemic – and in Michigan allowed for only one day of early processing. The sense of there being a dynamic in these races in which Biden “came from behind” is artificial, the result of vote tallies from densely and highly populated, disproportionately Democratic areas – ie, cities – taking longer. Everyone saw this problem coming. They also saw how Trump would attempt to take advantage of the uncertainty by stealing the election, which he is, although the effort, as historically dangerous and destructive as it is, does not look particularly brilliant. Elections officials from both parties in the states in question pleaded with the Republican legislatures for more time to process votes early, as they do in other states with Republican-controlled legislatures such as Ohio, Florida and yes, Arizona, where the race happens to have been truly close.’

Reports coming out that voter turnout has been 103 percent in battleground states. How can there be more votes then ballots seems strange. ‘Precinct 538 in Orange County, which covers the University of Central Florida, reported a turnout of 102%. Officials for the area said as of the registration deadline on October 6 there were 754 voters registered in the area. But for voters already registered in Florida, there is no deadline for updating their address. So after the deadline, either during early voting or today, there were some Florida voters that updated their address, moving them out of one precinct and placing them in the precinct where they were then able to vote. This meant the numbers that voted in the precinct were above the 754 who had registered as of the start of October.’

Next will be to restore some common sense and decency in the post Trump era, including with Congress. When Harris takes over is relatively unimportant. Yesterday Chris GC was raving about your posts Wisbech. He wants you to know his thoughts are with you regarding your bereavement, very sad to hear and wishes you well.

By that logic then the democrats aint much better they spent his whole 4 years trying to prove he didn't fairly win the election and tried to get him removed. I dont think people are really grasping how serious this can get neither side is going to concede Trumps ego won't allow him whilst there is a degree of possibility of voter fraud to his supporters know this to and are pretty radical as well as some of Bidens base. Not to mention the campaign against George W. Bush. Once again the Democrats are claiming the high ground but ignoring their own actions. Biden has come out and said the smartest thing he can, which is to say every vote should be counted.

This is completely down to each state's politicians where it has happened and they should be held to account. Just like in the 2010 election in which I worked for Bromley council and we had no issues next door Lewisham was shambolic and many people were stuck in queues at 10pm and could not vote. It's about time that congress passed a federal law to try and sort this mess out rather than leave it to chance and the Supreme Court.

It possibly matters to people who’ve voted for him and then find he might step aside. The fact that despite almost total media derision and during what looks like a very poor reaction to the pandemic that Trump can increase his share of the vote doesn’t bode well. I haven't encountered anyone who believes Biden will be a 2 term President and many who think he will resign during his 1st. So I think people are prepared and that their major concern was ensuring Trump's removal. Who did that was of secondary import. That Trump's base is solid and motivated is true. That his con tricks and lies work with come people is also obviously true. That the turnout is high because the passions have been inflamed is also true. Put them together and you can begin to see how his share has increased. That the culture war will continue is certainly true but Biden stands a better chance of calming it than Trump.

Trump anticipated this months ago, in fact pretty soon after the pandemic struck and he knew it was going to derail him. So give him, or his campaign, some credit for "reading the runes" accurately. He has been preparing his base for these fake claims about the impact of postal votes, trying to undermine the postal service and delay the counting of postal votes in an attempt to steal the election in any way he can. Combine that with a deliberate strategy of downplaying the pandemic to try to keep the economy running no matter at what cost in lost life and I fail to understand why any reasonable thinker can still support him.
