It's all very well being the world's 6th largest economy (soon to be 7th as India surges ahead) but we're still rather small.

UK 3%
EU about 12-13% (excl UK)
India 3% and growing like the clappers and don't they just know it.
China 15%
US 24%

I have no faith in our ability to reach favourable trade deals with China or India after this debacle.

So the EU, has 12% divided by 27 other countries...that equates to 0.00444444444444 for each of the 27 countries in the EU. So therefore we have a far better growth rate.

I fully appreciate that they grow a lot of potatoes in your neck of the woods but there was a reason we lost 144,000 merchant seamen in WW2. We aren't self sufficient in food.

Furthermore I don't describe the global economy that I like. I just describe the one that exists.

Whereas your opinion on the subject is?

And the highest employment rates than ever before.

Doesn't Spain have 30% unemployment and 50% youth unemployment

We aren't at war and we will trade overseas in whichever scenario is agreed upon....so that was just weird.....have you started on the booze Stevie boy?

My opinion is that it would have been nice to have agreed something sensible with the EU but given their tactics we need a 'no deal' and to treat them as a competitor.

We can lose the neo liberals amongst us....they can bugger off again.....I'll eat my potatoes and try not to weep.

I agree a sensible thing would have been to negotiate a decent leaving deal.
But having seen the way they have behaved ( knowing that if we leave with a good deal others will follow.).
And as someone said earlier on this thread,we should have been working the details out of a no deal exit for the past 2 years.
And seeing how the French (and Spanish to a certain extent),love throwing their toys out when they don't get their own way,I cannot see how all the French and Spanish farmers will not put up with not selling their wares to us.

That's all the thanks I get for finding you good anglo-saxon students?

But seriously when you're presented with a vaguely coherent argument, instead of countering with an alternative you just resort to unpleasantness. I made the mistake of thinking you had a few more grey cells than rolf but I was wrong (again).

The flatlands of Cambridgeshire / Lincolnshire is the perfect place for you. Tiny gene pool and an ear in the middle of your forehead.

12% divided by 27,is that number.but in reality is probably only the German's who account for most of that figure.....if indeed it's true.

Germany does tend to skew most euro zone stats and they benefit from a weaker euro.
