There are good people and bad people out there and it has nothing to do with skin colour, religion, or anything else. Some humans are horrible.
I am a hairdresser and talk to almost all different nationalities on offer in Croydon. We all seem to be the same. I love the diversity.
I think all the problems come from people not talking to each other, not connecting with strangers, being suspicious instead of open. I also believe that with social media this will get more problematic over time.
Really sad because most of my clients are great to chat with- great stories and anecdotes. Everyone has a story if you're willing to listen.
I've got food and shelter tonight and a loving family and a few good mates.........and a passion for Palace.
I am incredibly grateful

Commonality with a diverse range of people discovered and appreciated through actual real life interactions. Great! Sounds like an obvious approach, but many prefer to keep to whatever they deem 'their own kind' to be.


The number of people who actually 'want' to live amongst diverse cultures is relatively low compared to those who don't.

The majority of those who have the financial muscle tend to live amongst people who share common cultural heritage with them.

People are definitely full of bile.....It's a physical reality.

But hate is a very strong word.....I'd say those who go to that extreme tend to be pretty low in number.

No factual evidence, but actually pretty near the mark I would say. Example, I live in a neighborhood where the only time you see a 'White' person are the teachers who commute in for work and maybe the odd cop as well as the occasional utility worker. From my experience people who bang on about living in a 'diverse community' nearly always live amongst there own.

That may well apply re parts of many big cities in the USA, and there may be a point about the extent of widespread latent and not so latent racism still prevailing in a country with the USA's recent history, especially given your reference to people generally without reference to people's more specific cultural background other than colour of skin (ie US born/raised or immigrants). Stirling referred to "culture" as opposed to "colour".

The "richest" areas in London are extremely diverse culturally,so it seems that those Brits most able to choose exactly where they want to live out of anywhere possible,don't necessarily follow Stirling's logic...

I've lived here 8 Years Gusset so no it doesn't as it happens. Its probably a bit more diverse I'd say than predominantly 'White Tory Chiselhurst'

Chislehurst was c.12.6% people not born in UK as of 2011 census,may well be higher percentage now...

Average for England and Wales as a whole was not much higher at c13.38%.
