I thought the clubs had voted to end the January window.

Still, as I said, I was fairly sure I was talking testicles.

Talk is cheap and it's performance at the World Cup that will determine his value

In case this hasn't been shared already. Contradicts what I heard that Chelsea didn't want to sell him. Is there still hope we can get him signed?

I hope so...

I don't think Gareth has the balls to play him (may be wrong, but most England managers bottle it and play the usual suspects out of fear of looking stupid when we don't progress from the group stage) so don't think he will feature. As much as I'd like to see England do well, I'd rather RLC got a taste of being back on the bench every game which would keep his value from sky rocketing and remind him what a season at Chelski would be like vs starting most games for us!

I agree, but Chelsea will still want to sell. There is a reason why players go on loan. This was achieved in spades with us. Job done, now play him?

Next point, if the press speculation is true, he has other suitors in Everton and Newcastle. Neither have massive infrastructure projects on the horizon, neither are as hamstrung by FFP as we are and - like it or not - they are bigger clubs.

Finally, £40m is too much for our blood. It pains me to admit it but we still don't have the financial clout to spend that much on one player when we have that and other holes to fill.

BTW, love him to sign.

The one thing we don't know for sure is who will be the Chelsea manager next season and especially if there is a change which looks likely what they think of RLC.

The new manager may want to sign a player who plays in RLC's position from the club he was manager. As we know managers have their favourites.

Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in?

There’s only three ways we can get him back

1 loan again
2 the yanks say ‘hey f***it let’s just do this’
3 Chelsea accept payment over two season and we spend f***all next summer

Ps 4. We spend all our budget on him and hope our existing strikers don’t need adding to. NOPE. There is no 4.

Re. Point 4, there are teams with less potent attacks than us. Benteke can't get any worse - Wilf and Andros could/should get an extra 5 goals each, as could Benteke. What could 15 more goals be worth, coupled with a better defensive unit?

I think an increase in quality is needed across the squad, so if the most viable option is midfield, then so be it! We know what RLC can do and he is very likely to get better over time. So whilst it would be nice to unearth an amazing centre forward, there is certainly scope to improve what we already have.

I think i would prefer the certainty of RLC over another striker who is no better than Benteke, Wickham, Sørloth.

I thought all multi million pound transfers were amortised anyway. I hope we have a plan B in place for if we don't get him back.

That's an accounting convention for (in this case) entering the purchase price of a player, in equal amounts, over the life of the contract, but we still have to pay the selling club the full price up front (unless we agree a payment plan).

I him well for the World Cup. But he'll be wearing the 3 lions, so something is bound to go wrong with the team

I disengage, I turn the page.
