We are where we are so accept it and work forwards, rather than looking back. Apply the law with rigour to all, without fear or favour. That applies to all those who commit knife crime, shoot or bomb. Alongside ensuring that we find and prosecute criminals we must work quietly with and within communities to lessen tensions, encourage the good that exists in most people and root out the bad. Have both patience and perseverance. Let the schools do their work. Let British culture do it's work. Work to bring people together and not to divide. Meet failure with an even greater determination to succeed and never just accept it cannot be done, because it must be done. Never tolerate those who spread hatred and division because of differences.

Don't, by the way, think that the attitudes you find on this forum are in any way representative of the majority opinion of Trump in the UK. They are only typical of a certain type of Brexit supporting, "liberal" hating group who seem to populate these threads. That they match up with the Trump "base" is obvious but they are far less in number here than in the USA. Trump coming here on a State Visit is, in my opinion, a big mistake. He will face a hostile reception, it will cost a fortune and achieve nothing at all other than to massage his ego.

I was reading yours but I'll just skim in future and pay you the same regard. I provided two obvious practical examples of what could be done. I didn't go over a whole process because that would be a huge post and it's not my job. But those are two obvious low hanging fruits that the moral cowards in power won't even countenance. You produced warm worded subjective nonsense talking about 'love and healing' like some kind of seventies CND hippy...and waffle about wishing for the end of religions.....All impractical waffle which shows a stunning lack of appreciation for how human nature works around differing cultural prisms. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and your politics is a prime example of that.....cloud cuckoo land. Indeed the people whose politics landed us here are not the people who anyone can expect to even begin to solve it.

Inviting an allie to celebrate D day is fine but we all know that Trump will try to turn the attention onto himself and then he will face huge demonstrations that will themselves distract from the serious nature of the events. With him likely to be embroiled in increasing controversy and only in office for another 18 months at most I think a diplomatic reason should have been found to delay a state visit. A visit just to celebrate D day but without all the state pomp might have been OK. As for the others well every one needs to be assessed on it's merits and whilst all of them were objectionable I guess the reasoning was that we might be able to use the occasion to modify and influence things for the better. No chance of that with Trump. He is more likely to try to give us the benefit of his enormous ego on Brexit than absorb any of our wisdom.

Froth is indeed what that was. Impracticable and irrelevant pieces of nonsense that would just make things worse.
