Just back from holiday so I haven't read this thread for a while.

This week is crunch time, I am delighted that the opposition is finally tabling a motion of no confidence but that isn't the important vote. It's possible that the Tories will even abstain during it.

Assuming Boris loses it is the vote of confidence in a Corbyn led government that is critical.

If Corbyn can form a government then Brexit will be denied but to do that he will need the Lib Dems and the rebel Tories.

If I were the Lib Dems I would sit this one out. They are now riding high in the polls with their clear remain position whilst Labour have an okey cokey policy.

The Tories want a GE but it could also suit the Lib Dems to strike now whilst they have the momentum. Corbyn doesn't want a GE which is why the other parties should go for it.

Still all to play for.

One more point

Those who fail to fully support the decision of OUR Supreme Court, need to be careful that they follow the law, which applies to all. Even Prime Ministers.

This judgement hasn't "inserted" the Judiciary into politics. The law applies to political actions just as much it does to every other aspect of life. All that has happened is for an attempt to sideline Parliament for a while to be declared unlawful. The law was always there. It was the attempt that was new so had never before needed to be brought before a Court and for the Court to make their judgement.

For the government, and Johnson, to say they "disagree" with it, and suggest that other law officers do too, is disingenuous. The High Court did not disagree. They referred it to the Supreme Court to decide IF it was "justiciable" as it needed the highest court to decide such an important point. They did decide and everything flowed from that.

That it will have consequences is obvious. Whether all those consequences are desirable is something for a future Parliament to consider and legislate on, if they believe that to be necessary.

So it isn't the "opposition" dragging the law into politics at all. It is the government who is doing that. The government broke the law and is now trying to politicise the judiciary by seeking to criticise their judgement.

This is another example of a disgraceful strategy being fostered in the backrooms by "advisors" determined to interfere in the smooth progress of Parliamentary democracy. This truly is where we need to be careful about what is wished for!

I hope that the Tory party wake up soon and see what is being done to them before it is too late.
