Since the 11th December sterling has risen 7% I guess the reason is that since then, chance of no-deal has weakened? It struggled between Mid Dec and Mid Jan and start bouncing back after May`s defeat which unofficially give the control to parliament and weakened her to use no-deal as a weapon.

And any deal (including no deal and staying in EU) is not a death from all aspects (financial, social etc) However, finance usually treats `uncertainty` as `falling of a cliff analogy` and reacts and this is how some people make money while others loose
