I scan this post twice a day hoping for news about
Flamini signing for us and what do I get?

Bickering, hair splitting and insult swapping -
which seems is also common to many other threads.

I think we can be certain that if he does sign he will be eligible to play when fit.

And to those who say he'd be a poor replacement for our ex-captain I say he'd be a brilliant addition - not so aggressive or a leader of men but someone who would add skill and subtlety in feeding our new strike force.

Sadly we had one such a player, Barry Bannan, but he was let go. Prematurly as it turns out given the manager's apparent conversion to having a team that plays football. Pity he didn't convince Jack Wilshere.

So, very much fingers crossed on Flamini - his arrival would complete an excellent transfer window.

Jack Wilshere made some comments to the effect that having met Eddie Howe, he was so impressed with what he had to say, that it was a no brainer not to sign for Bournemouth.Seems Super AL could not motivate him in the same way, for whatever reason.

Aren't they just the normal, pretty standard clichés that all footballers churn out when asked why they picked one particular club

Yeah, Robbie Keane used to say he supported nearly every club he joined.

Optimistic as ever

You don't embargo a press release to say that you're not interested so it could be good news.

If we do manage to sign him it will make the transfer window one to remember (but don't tell citizensludge that I said so)

Wilshere joined them because of his best mate, it was nothing to do with Pards or us as a club. Their chairman said today that it was a team effort but Afobe played a very big part. We were never in the running.

Yup, that and the fact that Bournemouth agreed to pay 100% of his wages [rather than the high % we offered] and Arse thus [possibly?] put the kybosh on him joining us.

Obviously I am not certain that he preferred us over Bournemouth; but whether or not he did, he is hardly likely to say so now is he?

Time will tell whether we should have pitched a competitive offer. However, to try and use Wilshire's dreary platitudes as evidence of Pardew's alleged ineptitude is misconceived.

Good, he's 57 now so if people are doubting Flamini at 32 he has no chance. Any mention of interest in Leon Osman?

Edited by Littlebogreek (06 Sep 2016 2.58pm)

AP put that one to bed in the advertiser this afternoon bud he is quoted as saying - "Osman is not in my thoughts - No "

Ah yes. I remember him. Shared Dwight Gayle's off the ball work rate. And his keep possession play was A1, not. (lets not confuse possession play with a good passer of the ball, which he was, admittedly)

Before I get pulled for misquoting - direct lift below re leon Osman.

" he's not on my radar, if I'm honest, no," Pardew said when questioned by the Advertiser.

Agreed Midlands - Flamini would cap it off nicely!
