One for the Oldies. Last day of the season I think 71/72 home to Huddersfield. They were down from old top flight and we were just safe.0-0 We were awful and should have lost Spot on ... it was a miserable damp day and the football was atrocious. Basically, nobody could be bothered. Whenever I discuss lousy games with a particular friend of mine this game is always mentioned first.

I remember that Huddersfield game too, I stood at the top of the Holmesdale in a t-shirt on the grass bank and slid down it, got completely soaked and filthy. It was awful but we were safe. QPR away, lost 6-0 - Kevin Miller - that was the worst game ever. He was a disgrace.

Toward the end of the ultimately disappointing 1975-1976 season we played two evening games at home against Chesterfield and Aldershot. By then we were out of the cup but were still in with a shout for promotion. Both games ended 0-0 and were dire. It was hard to believe this was the same team that had looked so good only a month or two earlier (FA Cup semis, well ahead in the league at Christmas). One of these matches was particularly terrible - I can't remember which - but I seem to recall Swindlehurst going off injured and us ending with Doris and, I don't think I dreamed this, Jim Cannon up front.

Match of the Day on Norwegian telly back in January 1993? In a third round cup tie we were playing third level Hartlepool away and lost 1-0. I was watching it with my buddies and had to take loads of sticks. I`ll never forget that awful game.
