And Jonny Williams demonstrated clearly why a succession fo CPFC managers havent rated him. But that's another story.

I thought Jonny Williams played well and looked lively.
Why do you think he played badly? The thread on here about him also supports the opinion that he played well.

Williams' fault for calling for it in the first place as well with green shirts lurking around him. He should have left Hennesey to belt it up the park.

And Andy Townsend tells what the real reason is for Wales losing.

"When Wales lost Joe Allen, upon reflection perhaps Chris Coleman might have introduced somebody else rather than taking Aaron Ramsey away from the forward area of the field."

Glad we haven't got Coleman making errors like that for us. O'Neill outclassed him tonight.

Having actually watches the game, can tell you that wasn't the case. Wales outclassed Ireland, had 72% of the possession and 16 shots against 8. Ireland got a lucky goal and cynically kicked them all over the park.
Coleman did nothing wrong.

I'm a Welsh fan & I was at the match & I blame Hennessey for the goal!He should of not put Williams under undue pressure which cost us a goal & our chances of qualifying!

I thought Joniesta did ok tonight but we really missed Bale who is our biggest goal threat & most creative player!

Hennessey generally does ok for Wales but I would love him replaced for my club & country & makes far too many errors!

Williams called for it. Hennessey distributed it perfectly well and Williams messed up. Hennessey also made a fantastic interception near the end which, if anyone doubts his bravery, they should look at. If that had been Neuer everyone would be saying what great goalkeeping.

In my opinion the way it is and always has been -

A fantastic goalkeeper (a Buffon etc.) is a goalkeeper who rarely makes errors, consistently pulls off worldie saves whilst also being able to command his area etc.

A very good goalkeeper is a goalkeeper who wins his team points with saves he's capable of making. May make the odd error here and there but in general is very reliable and atones for any errors with his general quality over the course of a season.

A good goalkeeper is a goalkeeper who may have some deficiencies when it comes to presence at times but in general does the basics well. Has the occasional worldie in his locker to make up for the inevitable errors he will make being a goalkeeper, so it balances out that he's good enough.

A s*** goalkeeper is a goalkeeper who never does anything out of the ordinary and at times struggles with the absolute fundamentals (diving etc).

I'm sorry but for me Hennessey falls firmly into the last category.

He reminds me of that kid that you'd sign during Sunday league days to make up the numbers. Shockingly bad but without him we'd be fielding 10. Howler after howler, week in week out and so when he actually managed to kick a ball and it went within 5 yards of a team mates foot you'd praise him as if he just rabona'd a free kick into the top corner from 30 yards out (blindfolded).

I honestly cannot believe people still think he's a premier league standard goalkeeper. It's either patriotism or delusion. Nowhere near the required level in my opinion and one does wonder how many more times he needs to have a poor game before people see that.

That was a monumental error last night.
Forget who called for the ball - when the ball is in the keepers hands he is in charge - he can see it all in front of him and you do not throw the ball to someone who is clearly being marked.
The goalkeeper decides where the ball goes and with Ireland playing high up the field right at that moment he got it wrong - again!
He looked fazed by what to do next and just did the wrong thing
Dear oh dear.

When Wales play well, you claim you "dont care about Wales" but the first time they lose in over a year you're gloating and rubbing it in. Pathetic troll.

Shut up you dope. I'm not gloating at all. Was an encounter I didn't care who won. I just enjoyed the spectacle.

Shame about his error, won't do any good for confidence on return! Johnny W. put in a decent shift and I have said it before, a mistake to let Joe Ledley leave. An other good performance from the beardman vs RepOfIrl

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Williams was not marked, which is why he called for it. He was clear for the ball and did not clear it quick enough. We (Wales) do that tactic a lot and have got away with it more than a few times.

To be fair He's in good company, you could level that at most of our (Palace's) squad.

Should've said Championship standard. If I recall correctly he had a particular horror show against a certain Danny Butterfield.
