Willo - why do you keep referring to Roy as "Mr Hodgson" it comes across as if it gives you/him some additional gravitas..!! It's just really annoying - he's Roy and IMO he's coaching and formations are now being shown as being archaic and outdated, so the reference to being Mesozoic are relevant and appropriate..!! The obvious weakness in your argument is that yes he has been in Management for 45 years - but is now well beyond his "sell by date" and "out of his depth" in terms of modern football, as his coaching, tactics and formations. Today's game and performance being a prime example of that. Time to move on..!! COYP I am in total disagreement with the points raised, but this thread pertains to the game and not particularly apropos Mr Hodgson so perhaps in the interests of HOL the debate shouldn't gallivant down this road. In the final analysis I am content with a point even though the performance was hardly inspiring. One keeps hearing that football is a "Results business", and we have attained 4 pts from the Brighton and Fulham games. Fixtures have fallen kindly for us before we start crowing about points tally so far. I would be surprised if we get more than 4 points from our remaining fixtures, which include the traditional top 6, Leicester, Everton and Villa. Shame we did not hang on to Banks and Woods and try a few different things with different players over the rest of the season. 4-4-2, hanging on for a clean sheet Royball is what we have in store, which is a huge pity. I would bet my house on it that we get more than 4 points from our remaining games.

I'll repeat the sad fact from last week: Crystal Palace have accrued their joint-best tally of points in a Premier League season after 25 games (32 pts), matching their haul at this stage in 2015/16. Is there just two options then? Roy or his style of football forever, or the 3rd or 4th tier of football? Can we establish if it’s one of the other?

Awful game of football but we got what we wanted in our last 2 games. 4 points and stopped teams gaining on us. The only thing that matters this season is staying in the division or the new academy and stadium plans will go out the window and we will end up in the Vauxhall conference. I’m happy enough. 4 posts after it’s not even the 3rd or 4th tier. We’ll be in the football conference.

Would anybody pay for a season ticket to watch that? I still think it is a fluke we have got to 33 points - even Sheffield United pass the ball better than we do. The board will be rubbing their hands at another season in the premier league but there is a part of me hoping we go down to the championship next season if nothing changes - from a fan perspective, this is the only way to change the mentality at the club. Who wants to subject themselves to this borefest year in year out? I would rather watch non-league football at Bromley. According to some you can watch non league football with us, the very minute we get rid of Roy. Apparently, we will immediately become Sunderland or Portsmouth. Only Roy can save us from that, allegedly.

Because theres never anyone infront of it to pass to. Ask the dinosaur in charge. I hate that man. It amazes me how there doesnt seem to be massive unrest between management and players considering how the players have been turned into the most dire footballing side in the country in the last 2-3 years. They all seem to just go with it and say the same bollocks in interviews after every game which by the way is always what Hodgson has said in his interviews word for word.Injury this injury that, great defence blah blah. I think they might just be too dumb to think for themselves or just don't care. I'd like to think if one of us was in that team I'd be asking a lot of questions because it must be absolutely horrible playing in a setup like that. You hate that man? Calm down and stop being so personal. Anyway, I'm sure he's scratching his head , wondering why, in all his 45 years in football, he never listened to your advice. Yes - injuries have decimated the squad. Yes - he's kept us up for all this time - our longest in the top flight in our history Yes - he's helped us to survive with, mostly, players that are cheaper but older, since he's been given very, very little to spend. No to personal insults against a professional who's forgotten more about the game than you or I ever will. No to the Curbishley Solution.
