Daniel Hannan has already said he's happy to say in the single market and that he doesnt want immigration cut sharply. Boris has just said he wants to be part of the single market and doesnt believe that immigration is a factor or concern for most people. The backtracking is coming thick and part. This was never about slowing immigration for them anyway, it doesnt effect them. The reality of the situation has hit home and he realises that whatever decision he makes he'll be seen as the bad guy. I think he genuinely thought remain would win, and he'd be seen as the plucky man of the people, setting up a case to next next prime minister.
