All immaterial - the ref did not give it. Command your 6 yard box and punch it clear out wide and whether you are fouled or not makes no difference. Sadly lacking with WH - has been since dropping the ball at Villa last year.

The worst crime the oppo player did was jump up, even though Wayne had a massive advantage, to try and put the goalie off. It worked. He wasn't even looking at the goalie just the space where the ball was dropping above his head. 100% not a foul. 100% contact - 50/50 each - but still no foul. Edited by Kermit8 (06 Feb 2017 9.45am)

If you analyse it WH had to jump the opposing player had a running jump on him hitting him when his arms were raised with no chance of heading the ball, so it's a foul as the player couldn't of got to the ball.

I cannot help thinking that if we had a goal disallowed for a foul on a keeper in similar circumstances there would be loud cries of "Goalkeepers are over-protected" etc etc and the referee would be pilloried.
