just don't get how anyone can support a forward who has only scored one goal all season.
I support him as he plays for Palace and I want Palace to do well. For Palace to do well we want our best XI on the pitch , he is one of them. 1 goal this season , well have a look at the season. first 7 games all were complete rubbish or impossible due to Frank. Then Benteke was injured and returned I think at the end of the 2-2 draw with Everton. Then he came on at half time v Stoke and we won 2-1. Include that game he has played in 10 out of 11 and we won 5 drew 4 and only lost one. The Swansea game he did not play we looked a poorer side and lacked direction. This suggests to me we are a better team with him in the side. Roy has picked him every time he has been available to him in this period , and said we cannot afford to carry players , therefore Roy must also believe Benteke is part of our best team. You say he has not much choice but he would not play him if he was giving zero effort as you and others suggest. Benteke would be wanted most of the bottom 12 teams and causes others teams of similar quality to us problems. We saw the two big lumps Burnley played yesterday I would take Benteke over those types and Shane long all day. What I don't understand is why you and others just want to bitch and slag him off when Palace are having a great run and he is contributing to it . A little bit of quality wins some tight premiership games and he can provide it and when he adds goals it will be great for us , so why don't you support him until he does ? You seem to want to see him run all over the pitch like a headless chicken so you don't have to look too hard to see what he contributes . Anyway as you said we will go with what Roy decides to do , I have no problem supporting Benteke untilhe is no longer Palace.

How weird to judge a striker on goals and assists, ok let's judge him on workrate, well actually you would probably ignore those stats as well. I wonder why Roy is starting the only fit striker who also cost £30 million. I think he played fine yesterday but that doesn't change how poor he's been this season.

I'm with this guy.
Yes, he hasn't scored enough goals. Yes, he seemed to have an attitude issue right up to and including the penalty incident vs Bournemouth.
However, he's been one of the key components of our recent excellent league form. Compare yesterday and the games at Leicester and Southampton against our performance against Swansea.
Some people seem to need a scapegoat, regardless of how well we're playing.
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

MK is absolutely correct. Benteke is key to our playing style. When he has not played our forward play has been totally without focus and when he has played , in the last 12 games he has contributed massively to us gaining the points. The fact that he has not put the ball in the back of the net does not make him a rubbish player, only a player not 100% on his game. There are plenty of examples of our team at various times not on their game but that does not make them rubbish players. Benteke will be key to us surviving in this league he has contributed massively to our recent run of success and just think how it will be when his goal scoring form changes. Every player at Palace deserves our support even when things are not going their way. As has been said many times form is temporary but class is permanent and Benteke has class. COYP

No, statistics are facts.
That he's a class player is just your opinion

No they aren't! They're aggregates of selected facts.

I support every palace player, providing they give 100%. Sadly I don't feel he is. Nothing would please me more than him getting a hatrick against arsenal and going on a good run of goals, but I just can't see it happening.
