We’ve no replacement for Jimmy Mac unfortunately but we need to find one for next season. JWP went to Oaklands Catholic School in Portsmouth. In my day it was full of self-entitled pr!cks and it seems little changed when he went there. Mason Mount went to my old school, so I can lay claim to the fact that my school still produced better players

When Hasenhuttl arrived at the club he informed Ward-Prowse that to get into the side he had to be more aggressive, make tackles and to be a presence in midfield.

Last night's game was a - Dead Rubber. OK, so our play in large chunks was - Dead Awful. But, some of the hysterical, OTT comments and reactions by some on here were - Dead Ugly. If a game is broadcast I tend not to follow the thread, but going through it this morning made it difficult to understand how folk, despite becky's valiant efforts to bring some order, could get so wound up over a game that had no real significance. I want us to win every game we play. I had us down for a win last night. I was very disappointed with the result. Get over it. Next year will be different.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Very disappointing last night. I know nothing as such to play for but against Southampton with the fewest points gained this calendar year than the likes of Sheff Utd anD WBA expected alot more.

We can finish the season 12th - 17th. The team that finishes 12th gets about £10m more than the team that finishes 17th, money which helps enable next year to be different.

And the money that goes with it. But I just don’t get the level of hysteria it created on here. I'd understand it if we were playing to avoid relegation.....or to win The Cup!

I'd understand it if we were playing to avoid relegation.....or to win The Cup! The 'level of hysteria' is a build up of frustration. A combination of poor tactics, selection, boring football and total lack of effort from the team several times this season and loads last. What got me the most was the Sheffield performance - look at my post on the thread - I'm not a pro. However, I could see we gifted Sheffield chances from set pieces - they should have scored from two corners. We needed to work on that quite clearly, did we? No, we clearly don't work on set pieces. We let an easy corner in. What a surprise - we're basically the worst team in the league (or thereabouts) at set pieces. As we were last season too. Why? It has to be a coaching issue. Apparently we see no reason to be any good at set pieces. How absolutely ridiculous. We had a lot of the same team with Pulis, or similar, and were the best team at set pieces. So we've gone from best to worst. What else? The same system, nearly every game. How does that challenge the opposition? There has to be other plans but we don't have any. The main thing demonstrated by that is that there must be some pretty useless managers out there if they don't know how we will line up and play. They must be downright amateurish. There are plenty of other things to say but it's probably getting rather long now.

Looking at the fixtures, if we don’t beat Villa I fear we may end up in 16th place .... the only consolation being we will still be above Brighton!
