A true great. I was lucky enough to see him play and later enjoy his authorative and knowlegible commentaries. Compared to today's bickering commentators he was a giant. Will be sorely missed by all nationalities. RIP Richie.

I remember one commentary where he suggested that the fielding team should move a player round to third man as that's where the batsman looks like was looking to score. Immediately, a fielder was moved to third man. Richie remained silent. Next ball, the batsman was caught . . . At third man. Richies next words, without an ounce of complacency, he said "just like that". He was and always will be the best.

Like others on here i grew up watching Richie Benaud along side Peter west and Jim Laker. sadly all three are no longer with us but it was Richie Benaud for me was and still is the voice of cricket. RIP.
