I remember, way back in the 1970`s, David Webb not only replacing Chelsea`s injured keeper in a match, but also starting the next game in goal.
Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link] |

Someone did it in league 1 or 2 a few weeks back and saved a penalty. Can't remember the team though. Was MK Dons against Preston last month.

Clint Hill did it for us. Jules was clattered and needed treatment, we didn't have a keeper, so Clint went in for the remainder of the first half and Jules came back out in the second half. Can't remember who we were playing, but it was away in the Championship, and presumably under Warnock.

Harry Kane did in the Europa League last season. First thing he did was face a free kick and let it go through him. He'd scored a hattrick earlier in the game so don't suppose he minded too much!

Henry Hughton played in goal for us in 1984 and although he made a couple of fine saves, he punched the ball into his own net to give Shrewsbury their equaliser.

Lucas Radebe started off his career in goal before switching to a defender so he was useful between the "Sticks" and donned the gloves for Leeds when required.

didnt our very own Chris Day start off his footballing life as a striker, playing with Beckham in his early sunday league teams? Bingo, yes he did..... "Born in Walthamstow, London, Day originally played as a striker for schoolboy team Ridgeway Rovers, playing in the same team as David Beckham, and scoring 63 goals in one season for the Chingford based club. Due to his height, Day was later made the team's goalkeeper" should have stayed there..... Edited by paperhat (19 May 2016 8.58am)
Clinton is Clinton. I have known him for a long time, I know his mother... Simon Jordan |
