Stewart Lee is the comedy snob's favourite comedian. He actually acknowledges this fact and derides it and the people who like him. Personally I do think he can be very funny. He certainly is the antithesis of today's Live at the Apollo style 'young comedians' (as Stew puts it). That certainly doesn't mean he can be certified funny, but he is experimental. He likes to experiment with the mechanics of comedy and delivery which can actually more than anything just be interesting. I think Stewart Lee's a bit of a snob and an arse. But he can be very funny and observant. Sometimes he isn't and I can see how he isn't everyone's cup of tea.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |
