Will be very interesting to see the direction of Thailand after this. He was a god like figure who brought the country into semi modern times. Electricity, sewage, import/export. He did it all. Hope he hasn't got a basketball fanatical crazy son ready to step up.

My wife and I were in Thailand (I think in 2003) and were there when the King's was celebrating his birthday.On that day, bars wouldn't allow one to drink out in the open in full view of everyone but it was OK to drink inside.I recall pictures of the King in the airport immigration area - he was revered.
