Why change it at all! We were not behind but level. No need to tinker just leave the team to get on with it and try and get to the end with hopefully a draw. If we were behind then gamble in the hope you can get a goal (like at Hull) last night there was no need. AP just can't leave things be at times!

Liked Flamini and Cabaye together, too. Throw in Ledley and Macca, Tomkins on right back and we should have a decent team for Chelski. Think Chungy had a decent game too, just wished he stopped his habit of passing backwards. The same goes for Benteke, though...

When you're struggling near the bottom any point is a good point. I'm not saying I would be ecstatic about 16 point from 16 games, but if we can average 1 point per game, the likelihood is we will more often than not be safe and be able to build for the coming season.

hindsight? As soon as I saw him call Campbell over from warming up, I thought who is he going to sub him for? I could only think benteke, & was telling my brother this was extremely risky and weren't too happy about it. Then he goes and pulls McArthur off !! I was mortified, & said so at time, I mean surely if McArthur had to be subbed Townshend would have been better swap. A minute or so later they score & i was telling me bruv told you so. Majority of ground had foresight to see that!

Pardew seems incapable of seeing the correlation between substituting a central midfielder and the opposition scoring. Changing your shape when you're holding on for a result is suicide.

I don't think hindsight was that important. The situation vs Hull was different. We were actively chasing the game after having gone 3-2 down. Against Man United we had something to hold on to. Even if the substitution itself didn't affect the goal/game, what it does show is the mentality Pardew was giving to the players - that settling for a point at that stage wasn't right. And that's plain stupidity. It encourages a recklessness that you'd thought would have been beaten out of them with a very hard and big stick after Burnley, Swansea, Hull, and several other games. And we look *so* susceptible after scoring. It's like the team is literally incapable of holding together when we score.

Hindsight is the very thing Pardew has but has not acted upon. Losing in the last few minutes is a pattern going way back to the FA Cup. Yes, hindsight is a wonderful thing, for people with brains.
