The betting industry has a phrase "When the fun stops stop". The pie eating and any associated bets were a fun event, that is being allowed to prevent people focusing on areas of far greater concern. The poor bloke is being scapegoated, by individuals about whom I am thinking many usually unacceptable words.

Are we still able to pick up free agents? Hopefully, we would be able to show him the love he needs, which he could return by looking at Selhurst Park pies perhaps getting the SP catering to more than the two stars that Croydon Council last awarded - another area of improvement.

he's been offered a job by MeatLiquor at box park and as said on Talksport yesterday, he'll soon be on celebrity big brother and stuffed in the jungle too, so i doubt long term its going to do him much harm. he'll soon get signed up by the Mirror or someone to do an article on "the best supermarket pies" and no doubt an advertising campaign for pukka pies or ginsters beckons too. If not, i want to be his agent and i'll have 10% please.

The sun paid out a "five figure amount" - that's the problem. "The People" don't like it when they lose. Their own stupid fault for taking the piss out of him.

As the only bookie offering odds on that particular event, its all a bit fishy and therefore set up that he did what he did. simple bit of marketing for Sunbet to go along with the sponsoring of Sutton Utd. - very much in the same vein as the time that the Sun sponsored the bottom of a boxers boots when he fought Khan or Hamed or similar. The sad thing is A) how they've turned round and put their hands up to absolve themselves of any blame and B) how this guy has been allowed to put a bet on himself (alledged). anyway, as i posted previously, he'll no doubt be better off now than he was before so alls well etc etc

Here's a thought: if he knew that bets had been placed on him eating a pie on camera, would he not be equally complicit in a betting scam if he then failed to eat one when he normally would have?
