Ah casual Aussie racism. I couldn't believe it when the cricket conmentators over there referred to the pakistani cricket team as the p***'s.

If you look at it sensibly, what's so racist about the word P***s ? It's an abbreviation of pakistanis, that's all. If it's name calling of a predominantly white country's people, i.e. Frogs, Krauts, Limeys, Yanks etc, then it's alright.

Some people enjoy being a victim imo.

Unfortunately that's not all. The abbreviation has been used as an insult for the last fifty years and is now deemed as insulting as you know what word is to a black person.

Agreed. There has to be a hardline stance taken with this or else it gives real racism a stage. Can't be one rule for one and another rule for the other.

Moving away from the language issue (on which Midlands is correct), it seems BFS has finally made his mark on the team and released them from their Pardew-induced collective sh*tness.

As long as they keep playing like they did against WBA we should be fine this season, then hopefully push on with Sam at the helm next time round. Stick with Sam and we'll be a decent Prem team who are strong, hard to beat and will consistently avoid relegation-related drama.

A hard-line stance? On words?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Indeed. There will still be plenty around who didn't realise that ''Til Death Us Do Part' was ironic, and worse still, many of them will have also reproduced.

It goes without saying that the P word is racist here, where the intent of those using is to hurt or alienate a group of people. Is it possible the Ozzies don't use it the same way, that for them it's the appropriate abbreviation? I don't know. But I doubt their cricket commentators are all racist so it's possible it's their 'pakistani'. Is there a trustworthy Dingo shagging user of this website who can clarify?
