I agree, he could well be for us what Le Tiss was for Southampton. The centre of everything the club does for years. He fits the mould of what everyone would say they want and like most about a Palace player - local kid, through the academy, a bit of a maverick, extremely skilful, no ego, works hard, plays with a smile on his face and genuinely feels every result like a fan does Plus.. He donates %10 of his wages,,,,, Thoroughly decent bloke.....

I've seen them all from the great Johnny Byrne onwards and to my mind Wilf is up there with any of them in every aspect.

My personal opinion is that he is up there with a few of the Palace legends right now.....Possibly top. Jim Cannon.

you got to say Vince Hilaire, surely a legend, as was Dave swindlehurst, in my eyes anyway, in fact all the team of that era were pretty much legends

Wilf is around fifth for me until he shows a bit more guile when he has goal-scoring opportunities. And I reckon Wright would have given Kyle Walker a much harder game on Sunday if he had had to mark our best ever player and legend so far. Never saw Byrne. Sansom up there obviously too in legend status and the fact he ahs that but was only with us for three full seasons shows just how superb he was. At least Ian Wright was with us for six.

The two obvious comparisons are Don Rogers and Peter Taylor. Both goal scoring wingers, both hugely talented. Wilf's up there with them. Different eras, but Wilf may well become our greatest attacking player ever.

As he's not an out and out striker it's difficult to compare him to Ian Wright.... but Wrighty was on another level. Those of us who saw him are privileged - he was just amazing. Wilf is getting there but needs some more accuracy. I'd say he's very similar to Vince Hilaire - great trickery but not always a great end product. I think the next 2 seasons should see him peak and then we'll know where he rates against the best - hopefully it's with us.
