my nan used to refer to tripe / offal as 'melts'.
as in
'nan , whats that horrible smell?'
'I'm cooking melts for the dog'

They used to use it a lot on Brookside, so I assume it’s a northern scouse thing
And yes I know I needed to get out more instead of being stuck in watching soaps!!

Use of it instantly puts the speaker in the "Danny Dyer wannabe" column, along with other Green Street / Football Factory type phrases like "jog on"
