If we can find some money to do what we need to do in the transfer market then this becomes an irrelevance and would also be my preference. However, if we have to rely on sales and what other players we could release would bring in then it probably isn’t pretty reading. Punch £2m, Souare, £2m, Jairo £5m, Mutch, Ayew, lose the wage bill. Basically, without selling one of our star players or having money in the bank we can just about afford another Sorloth!

I appreciate what Lookman can bring to the table but I do feel another wide player is not a priority for us given that we have Zaha and Townsend. It is patently obvious that we need a striker but perhaps we also need a midfielder who can pull the strings,dictate the play and carve out chances, players in the mould of Fabregas and Hernandez of Leeds.Clearly our supporters will want RLC to return but it would be up to Chelsea if they allow him to go out on loan again. Edited by Willo (29 Nov 2018 9.16am) Both Puncheon and Souare can still do a good job for Championship clubs and even if their value was say £1m each, my pertinent point was that the players we have that we no longer need, won't raise a huge amount of money, so what you are saying supports my point.

Just playing devils advocate Willo. If faced with such a scenario it would be a tough call. Now if they gave us Zappacosta and RLC for AWB and £10m I would be all over it.

Quite like the look of Hudson Odoi tonight, although they are playing a PAOK side which is a) three goals adrift b) playing with ten men and c) s***e. I thought he looked good against Man City when he came on and was doing a bit of research. Have a look at this article. We might have come across him before Charlton if it was not for an under 16 game getting called off.
