You are simply switching your immigrants from one continent to others, as time will surely tell. There is more at stake than immigration. I agree that leaving won't immediately alter the immigration situation, but it is a step.

Losing our identity? Really? You mean that identity we built up through inviting people in (and sometime not inviting them) from the Norse countries, France and Germany primarily? With alliances between ourselves and Spain, Portugal and Holland variously? Oh do me a favour, our identity is a moving feast but it really isn't incompatible with those of others. Take a look at from where we brought in our monarchy over the years. So you trade some kind of project fear around concerns relating to identity for real relative impoverishment. Each to their own I suppose.

There was once a period in the not too distant past when the left actually cared about and defended UK jobs.

I defend jobs for British people, you may not have noticed but lots of us get about a bit. I defend the UK economy which provides the building block for British people to get good work. And social supports as well. I also feel much connectivity with all other EU countries as they have been gracious enough to welcome me to work there. Edited by Mapletree (16 Nov 2018 1.37pm)

Edited by Mapletree (16 Nov 2018 1.37pm) When you do make a 'right wing' point to counter balance then please point it out to me! I don't understand, we can still have a sizeable fishing industry AND still work and travel in the EU. If you wanted to apply for a job in Germany, then the working visa is all part of the application. Edited by Penge Eagle (16 Nov 2018 1.49pm)
