I remember there was a thread of "worst Palace signings ever" and if you went right back to the first page of hundreds, stretching back as far as 2001 Speronis name would come up.
Perhaps history will repeat its self

Been excellent after losing his place in December last year and the introduction of a new coach who, unlike predecessors, played many games at the top level and knows what it takes mentally an physically.

The Speroni haters bit is a load of bollocks by the way. Most of the name calling came from the other way.

Apart from one cross in the first half that he came for and flapped at he was superb... Has massively upped his game this season.

He has been great this season and rightly being praised.
But he has been sh*t in the passed and was rightly slated. Those that are acting like he was unfairly slagged off in the past have short memories. Long may the current Hennessey be the our number 1.

Dean Kiely... Played for West Brom I think and started his career at Crewe... I may be wrong.

Might be significant that our two goalkeepers from that period, other than Speroni, are both international goalkeepers now - whereas both were absolute liabilities then.

Kiely was class, he used to play for Charlton. I always thought that he and Paddy Kenny were the best keepers I had seen. I didn't know he was our goalkeeping coach, but I am very glad that he is.
