We were playing well, and then there came a point in the game when the ball was more lumped up towards Ayew rather than played up and through.

All we did was hand possession back to S'Hampton what with him not being a tall chap etc. That was point I thought Roy should bring on Benteke.

We played really well for the first hour, which was down to Roy and his tactics and team selection. You can't just ignore that. However, I agree that he just doesn't seem to know how to effectively use his bench. Maybe Ayew didn't look so knackered from pitch side? Schlupp had an impact at Spurs, so I suppose that's why Roy picked him again. Lewington is a fan too, according to the commentator last night. Me, I just don't get it.

We can't start Ayew against Fulham, he may have worked hard last night but he was so wasteful in possession twice he lead a breakaway but couldn't find at team mate when he had 2 or 3 up with him in support.

Benteke or Wickham to start against Fulham at least they will offer some attempts at goal.

Do people think Hodgson will play a front three of Schlupp, Ayew and Townsend against Fulham?
Personally I would find this very annoying against a Fulham side we need to take the game to.
Sako is probably the most natural replacement for Zaha but I’m not sure about his fitness.
I think Benteke or Wickham should start and let’s try and get at Fulham’s defence.
I don’t want another Newcastle or Cardiff performance, but am concerned we’ll just replace Zaha with Schlupp for the Fulham game.

Agreed. I thought Ayew had a good first half harrying the defence but he should have been replaced in the 2nd half.

What I don't get is why Roy hates making subs so much, why he didn't bring Meyer, Benteke or Wickham on last night is a mystery

I agree and the Southampton manager's comments about us not playing football was odd, but I also agree about the subs - Benteke or Connor to hold up play later in the game would have given us an option we did not have.

Ayew should have been off with 30 mins to go as it was clear the game was turning - I was yelling at my PC to get him off and Wickham on.
Meyer - given the robustness of Southampton's challenges I can see why Meyer didn't play.

That is my worry too. Benteke or Wickham should start upfront with either Sako or Schlupp on the wing. But I fear Ayew will start and we will look toothless in front of goal yet again
