Luka, Dann, Andros but some others have done what they needed to when called on so for the money they have been very good value like Kelly, Tomkins, McArthur, Ledley

McArthur for me. 100% effort every week, can play, pass, tackle and even score. I'd place him above Luka simply because McArthur gets asked to play several different positions and roles, fitting in around others whilst Luka only ever gets asked to play to his own strengths and in his proper position. Then Tompkins, who would be top of the (non Zaha) list if he didn't miss so many games in a season with the various knocks he picks up. What a fantastic proper centre back that bloke is. Costs about a third of the money we spend on Sakho but is plainly the better one of the two. Dunno who feels more like crying, Tompkins or the club accountant. Thumbs up to Dann, Ward, Kelly, Ledley, Puncheon and, recently at least, Townsend. Mild shrug of the shoulders to PVA, Cabeye, Sakho and Meyer (though fingers crossed on him). Disapproving frown to benteke. Not every game goes your way, but just run about and knock a couple of people over you big arsehole. Edited by TheBigToePunt (16 Jul 2019 8.02pm)

Luka has been outstanding but for me it has to be Attilio Lombardo. Never thought I would see a world class player wearing the colours of the mighty red and blue. His football brain was three passes in front of his team mates.

Lombardo, still the most gifted player we have ever signed.

To be fair, Scott Dann is a top call as is McArthur. It's sort of interesting that all (?) the players listed bar Luka were bought from English /British clubs. I remember an interview (or was it a eulogising editorial?) in which it was claimed Parish wanted us to have a very British/English/local identity. I think the truth was -- and seems to remain -- that in this stint in the top flight, we've wanted players from the English game, ideally with Prem experience who we think can cut it immediately. And a lot of them have been English/British. I too hope this is Meyer's year. He's got it and needs to step it up.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

It has to be Alexander Sorloth ... he's the best bit of dead weight ballast in the business. And the better news is that he's back and ready to play up front with Benteke this season ... I just can't wait! Edited by Henry of Peckham (17 Jul 2019 8.21am)
