Nobody has a problem letting Roy look like he's made his own choice. We all owe him that. He's done well for us, I just believe that his management of us has run its course. Red and Blue Army!

Whether Roy stays or goes the manager for next season will have a tough job with so many players contracts up for renewal, ageing squad, attracting new quality players etc. If Roy stays he might well only have 10 games next season, a new manager might get a while longer.

In my opinion, keeping Hodgson for another year is the option Parish would prefer. It's the easiest and cheapest option, and from that interview Roy is indicating he would probably carry on given the opportunity. The issue for them is the fans. Had we still been in lockdown for the foreseeable future, they could getaway with it. However, with fans returning to stadiums, we simply would not remain silent about this uninspiring, dour, boring and tedious football. The crowd would be on everyones backs. I think Parish is astute enough to know this which is why there a delay over any decision. Of course, ann announcement of another lockdown and his problem would be solved.

In my opinion, keeping Hodgson for another year is the option Parish would prefer. It's the easiest and cheapest option, and from that interview Roy is indicating he would probably carry on given the opportunity.

The issue for them is the fans.

Had we still been in lockdown for the foreseeable future, they could getaway with it. However, with fans returning to stadiums, we simply would not remain silent about this uninspiring, dour, boring and tedious football.

The crowd would be on everyones backs. I think Parish is astute enough to know this which is why there a delay over any decision.

Of course, ann announcement of another lockdown and his problem would be solved.

Just reading Hodgson’s comment about Sterling after Saturday’s game. He was asked about Sterling and England and responded, ‘ I’m certain he will be an important cog in the wheel. He plays an important role in the team’s defensive work.’ It does appear that Hodgson’s key criteria for measuring a forward’s worth is his defensive work. Perhaps a new manager would judges forwards on their attacking play and concentrate on maximising their strengths to hurt the opposition. It’s not as if the defensive work demanded of our offensive players has led to a solid defensive record - it’s amongst the worst in the division.

Just reading Hodgson’s comment about Sterling after Saturday’s game.
He was asked about Sterling and England and responded, ‘ I’m certain he will be an important cog in the wheel. He plays an important role in the team’s defensive work.’
It does appear that Hodgson’s key criteria for measuring a forward’s worth is his defensive work.
Perhaps a new manager would judges forwards on their attacking play and concentrate on maximising their strengths to hurt the opposition.
It’s not as if the defensive work demanded of our offensive players has led to a solid defensive record - it’s amongst the worst in the division.

Tomkins and Cahill will need crutches next season.. if 9 players leave the squad a few replacements will be needed. Who they could be is what intrigues me. They will all have to be cheap.

I think you’re right regarding SP being hesitant but also worth remembering that he, Harris and Blitzer will be most concerned the value of their investment and that two of the three probably don’t give a sh1t about fan discontent.

I think you’re right regarding SP being hesitant but also worth remembering that he, Harris and Blitzer will be most concerned the value of their investment and that two of the three probably don’t give a sh1t about fan discontent.

It’s Hodgson’s lauding of a forward’s defensive attributes rather than what can he bring to the attacking side that is difficult to understand. It’s very revealing about his negative mindset and approach to the game. Perhaps understandable against the better teams, but not against the majority of teams we face. And all this defensive work from our forwards which Hodgson demands has not exactly contributed to a good defensive record this season. And it certainly hasn’t made us more threatening in attack.
