Smallish player and as as others have said both quick and skillful. I remember a game against Liverpool where Gerrard kicked him very early with barely a chat from the ref which probably gave them the game. He was bought with another Latvian player centre back?
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

Wasn't it Kolinko who signed as well? Both Kolinko and Rubins were signed from Latvian club Skonto Riga by Alan Smith. I think that Kolinko cost £650,000 and Rubins £2 Mill but this was a long time ago and my recall from yesteryear can be found wanting probably as I am of a certain vintage.
