I remember him looking really short in a friendly at QPR after we just bought him, but i think he's 6'1" which is only a couple of inches shorter than Johnstone.

Mexico had a keeper who was 5'8" a few world cup's ago and he managed ok.

Is Jules really that ‘tall’? That surprises me

I think Wayne Hennessey was living proof height doesn’t always make you a good keeper

I accept your point but they've still got to take a shot at goal to score, something that our male stars don't seem to do.

Going to my first ladies game next Sunday at the Valley. Hopefully there'll be a good Palace turnout!

if you haven't already got your ticket, some CP fans hope to be in block "H"

Well thats where we are Monkey comparing the attributes of women keepers with our old mate Wayne , which just about sums it up .

Im pretty sure our guys would shoot more if they thought they had a good chance of the keeper being invisible .

So you are saying that all the managers of Palace and Wales were stupid not to pick a good goal keeper. 189 games for us and a 110 times for his country. I think those Managers know a little bit more than you about goalkeeping.

I’ll take it from that you obviously missed some of the statue like shockers he had for us, we’ve had a lot better between the sticks over the years that’s for sure

We remained a PL club with Wayne Hennessey whilst he was between the sticks that should never be forgotten.

That being said I thought his main asset was getting in the way of things, as a big bloke, and beyond that could not identify much that would qualify him to be a GK.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

But he also had some great games for us. eg At Stamford Bridge where we won 2-1 and WH was MOM followed at home by a 3-0 against Arsenal and the a 2-1 win away at Liverpool. Nine points which saved us. Not solely down to WH but you don't go to Chelsea and Liverpool with a bad keeper and win both.
We have had some great keepers at Palace Rouse, Glazier, Jackson, Martyn, Jules and Guaita. Jules was terrible at first and Vicente made plenty of errors because he would not come out for crosses.
The greatest of them all was John Jackson followed by Nigel Martyn.

PZ Eagle:
'The greatest of them all was John Jackson followed by Nigel Martyn'

Indisputably and the bravest in the days of soggy pitches and centre-forwards given carte-blanche to knock keepers over.

If you weren't around in the 40's, 50's or 60's the game was brutal
compared to today.
