Now you see, I don't think that being a nationalist equates to being brave or fighting for anything other than self interest. Those I have met seem to me to be rather more in the bully camp, not defenders of the weak.

I don't think I spoke of individual Goumiers by the way, I just suggested that Mr Yaxley may fit better with their modus operandi as demonstrated in particular in Italy. Rather than the genuinely brave and selfless generation that fought in the trenches. Or, you could argue, the generation of lost boys without a voice, sent to almost certain death by an awful social system and political failure. Which, by the way, is how Percy saw it as he grew older.

Being a nationalist only tells us that an individual puts their ideas of a sovereign nation first before that of others.....for example internationalists.

Of course you can....rather amusingly....kind of stereotype them as a group all you like....perhaps in your experience you find them to be bullies.....ok that's fine....alpha males can definitely be bullies to differing extents.....soy boys as well though, just not perhaps to the same physical extent.

But as a defining attribute it's a bit poor and I, like many, come from a family with many members, both past and present, who serve in it. The forces contain many people who are nationalists to some extent or other.

I'm interested though Maple....where did you meet these 'bullying nationalists'?

I asked him to stop replying to me...because I had the impression that he wanted to wreck all the threads.

No-one has ever been carded for their politics but only ever for their posting style if it breaks the rules.

I didn't realise people don't get told why they get a card. Only seems fair to be told so they don't do it again.

I think discussions between posters and mods should be strictly private......though I have no doubt that a reason would and should be given at the time if asked for.

I'm not arguing that we shouldn't be able to bring up cards on the forum because of course we should but I don't think a public review of cards is wise.

As we know mods are not paid, they take their own time out. I definitely support the system of being able to appeal to the mods and them reviewing and discussing but subjecting them to publicly having to debate....potentially every card on the forum would be a disincentive to being a mod.

Count Dankula has just put up a rather accurate video talking about his recent experience of fake news by the Daily Mail and being sacked from a panel job with the BBC because of it.

It's a really good example of how the media can lie about someone and control now the general public view them because it makes a good headline and so makes them money.

At the same time safe in the knowledge that the subject has no similar means of reply.
