At that time our local school (still open), was still planning to go ahead with a kids trip to northern Italy, in the absence of Government decisions. If the school had cancelled without Government advice, insurance would not have covered the loss.
Government advice came 24hours before the trip. Massive ball-ache, but at least the kids didn't go and the insurance had to re-fund the money.

And why didn't Boris go to a private hospital with his Healthcare plan ? No doubt he has one.

So why did he go to an NHS hospital, and why not one of the Nightingale ones ?
This was a potential massive PR disaster avoided

I bet he had a ventilator on standby. Personally, I would have put a "Do Not Resuscitate" sign on his bed.

Wasn’t aware about the daily NY flight. Gatwick are getting a daily Dublin and still getting flights from Barcelona. Early in the week also had Minsk flight.
Not quite sure who are on any of these flights, if UK citizens I am surprised not already back, can’t see it being tourists.

Yes, try getting into a private hospital if you are having a heart attack.

There is very little advantage in having private health care for emergencies.
The benefit comes if you need a non emergency operation as a result of symptoms and then you don't have to wait in a long queue or endure NHS hospital care.
If you need immediate or intensive treatment then no amount of money will save you if your number is up.
