Player ratings;

Speroni-6- a couple of decent saves in the first half. Unfortunately age is certainly catching up on him and he simply doesn’t command his box as well as most prem goalies. Although he is our best option right now we need a proper 1st choice in jan.

Kelly-3-at fault for 1st goal with a nothing attempt to block the rebound. Offers nothing going forward and a liability in defence. Calling him a “utility player” doesn’t mask the fact he is turd. Should have been replaced much, much earlier than 80 min.

Tomkins-7- subtlety becoming our best defender. Having a decent run in the team and played well again. Strong header for his goal; if only it was 5 mins earlier we may have pushed on.

Dann-5- another night whereby he looked like he was running in treacle. Has stepped up in recent weeks after losing Sakho but tonight drifted back to the poor performances which led to him being dropped. Needs to wake up before the next game or we will be ruined.

Shlupp-6- done well and tried to push on as much as possible. Comfortably holding down the LB spot at the moment which may signal a move for PVA in Jan.

Milo-5- sloppy in possession and off the pace by his high standards. Happy to put it down as just a poor night and move on.

Cabaye-5- didn’t seem injured but replaced after 50 mins? Only player that doesn’t seem able to play 90...ever! Poor set pieces- as per usual- and generally saw the game pass him by. Can’t see why we would bother offering a new contract at the moment.

Townsend-7- always runs himself into the ground and looks to deliver into the box. Glad he bagged his 1st of the season and hope he can kick on.

Loftus-Cheek- 4- winner of dick of the day. Lazy, weak and wasteful when in decent positions. Could have been a different outcome if he had looked up instead of greedily going alone and was rightfully taken off.

Zaha-8- one of his poorer games and still comfortably our best player. Our only player who looks like creating something magical. If Van Dijk is worth £75mill in this window then Wilf is worth £100mill. Sell him in jan and we are relegated, simple!

Benteke-4- one step forward (goal and performance against Leicester) and 2 steps back with tonight. Balls bouncing off him all night and never looked a threat. Even when we managed to whip in a cross he was never in the right position. If we can find some mugs willing to pay £20 mill then we should snap their hands off.

Spot on ratings.

Get the feeling Benteke just needs a new club. Probably signs for EFC and returns to form instantly. Confidence player, with zero natural confidence. Got the impression tonight, false or otherwise, that he was purposefully not being passed to at times. As you say, 20m for this Benteke and what he gives us currently would seem like a good deal, but who we would replace him with i don't know.

Frustrating night. They were clearly the better team and should have scored more goals. Some of their passing play was the best I have seen at Selhurst for a long time. BUT - we could have got a draw and even won had we taken our chances! It drives me mad.
What also drove me mad was the lack of marking of Sanchez, when everyone in the ground could see all the space he was in all the time and Jack Wilshire who most of the time is absolute s*** but then decides to turn up against us and put in a good performance. Also, our defenders should learn from Koscielny about the art of defending!

Cabaye was a real disappointment.
Has lost pace and energy and the game passed him by.
I would sell if someone came in for him in January.

Unfortunately Arsenal had one of their best games of the season in an inconsistent season, Sanchez actually done something in an indifferent season .
No shame in the the result , no point in trying to put blame on our own players.
Get City out of the way and back to playing teams we can compete with.

Arsenal deserved it last night, although they did their very best to throw it away at the death.

First half i counted half a dozen times where we gave the ball away when not under pressure and we got punished for it.

2-3 was a fair reflection overall and i thought the ref had a good game too!

Excuse me, but how can you give Schlupp a 6? He lacks the most basic for a defender, like being around when his winger approach him. Great athlete, but unfortunately no football brain.

Agree with this. Gave the ball away too many times and gave their wide players far too much room. It looks like our full backs are playing narrow, which means when their wide players get the ball you have to make an effort to close them down quickly. Schlupp neve does this, which means they have all the time in the world to get a decent cross in.

Maybe the tactic was to try and deny space in the middle allowing them rooms on the flanks to cross the ball as they didn't have a target man to head in a ball.

They did have three in the middle to our two and with Milivojevic and Cabaye being off their game, Arsenal were able to dominate this area particularly in the first half.Yes they played some lovely one touch football but we allowed them to, dropping too deep and not showing the energy levels required to staunch the flow.If we had been 'In their faces' from the off we could have unsettled them and set the tone for us to get a result.

All very well playing narrow but you still have to close them down quickly when they get the ball. Agree about getting in their faces though. Even when we were three one down we tended to sit back and let them come at us. The odd times we decided to push up on them we caused problems. Gave them fat to much respect from thd off.

Arsenal were by far the better team and exposed our limitations.

I have said for years we lack a Fabrigas-type midfield 'general' and watching Wilshere controlling the midfield showed why Arsenal were so good last night.

I am sure if he was playing for Palace Benteke would start scoring again.

This is our continuing weakness and we will continue to struggle. Unfortunately they are a rare breed and command high fees but until we get one we look endangered.

I understand people being fed up with Bentenke, as he has not had a great season, but Cabaye? He's had one of his best seasons for us and has been at the heart of many of our best performances. It seems nowadays that a player has a bad game and instantly they are rubbish and should be dismissed with. Pffffft.

Not what we wanted, but proud of the boys, they fought hard.

I don't think MCFC will put five up again on Sunday and think we have a real chance to take 6 points from Southhampton and Burnley.
