Its funny,I had thought PTJ,given his interest in this thread, stood for Partial To Jalapenos, which would also not seem to be incompatible with indulging in other of his hobbies... I actually am rather partial. I'm worried I've turned this into a PTJ deviancy thread. Again.

I would probably be what you could call a lazy vegan. I stray at times, and complimemt people's leather jackets etc. But there are a couple of things that i'm amazed more people aren't worried about. First is the toxins and medicines given to the animals, which have caused serious issues for humans and probably will intensify over time as factory farming develops. Why would you risk it? You can get vegan food in most supermarkets which is cheaper than meat/dairy, tastes almost as good and is obviously way healthier for you and your environment. Why would you instead pay more for something which has probably come from some disgusting factory and has been stuffed full of chemicals? And obviously killing animals is just a sh*tty thing to do, particularly if your only justification is taste.
If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4 |

That is a seriously scary issue, the public health threat from resistance to drugs. As the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (an organisation well worthy of your support, containing journalists of many political hues-go visit their website) put it: "AMR stands for antimicrobial resistance. An antimicrobial drug is one used against a microorganism – like a bacteria, a virus, a parasite, or a fungus – which causes a disease. Antimicrobial resistance refers to those microorganisms becoming immune to the drugs used to treat them.... ...AMR has been significantly accelerated by overuse and misuse of the drugs in human and animal medicine. Cramped and dirty conditions in factory farming allow disease to flourish, and farmers can become reliant on drugs to keep animals healthy. In some countries, antibiotics are also administered to animals raised for meat in order to make them gain muscle so they can be taken to market more quickly... ...Dirty production methods employed by pharmaceutical companies is another driver of the problem: some factories leak industrial waste containing antibiotic residue which enters water supplies, antibiotic-ridden fluid, which can create and spread superbugs.
