I saw a few QPR games last year and he really was average at best.
See my post above about Caulker. Agreed...but that doesn't mean there isn't something there worth taking a chance on. Many would have said the same Delaney, for instance, before he joined us and look how well he's turned out. You have -- to some extent -- to judge Caulker on a). underlying ability, and b). if you think you have a coach who can get a tune out of him in a settled, quality side. What you said is true, but Caulker's upside remains potentially signficant.

i didn't mention anything about why he should join palace you just assumed this from nothing just that he has chosen 4 bad moves in a row

I was listening to Talksport earlier and they were slating Caulker and Liverpool for signing him (even on loan).
Apparently his last game for Southampton was the 6-1 defeat to Liverpool in the League Cup.
The key point they made, was that even when he was possibly playing at his best, Tottenham were still prepared to sell him.
We have a far better centre back on the bench in Hangeland.
