It's always difficult to know what to make of it.

The disappointment of course is no attacking signings. We are probably going into the Wolves game with only Ayew as a recognised winger fit to play in a 4-3-3... and has he ever really been 100% a 'winger'? Beyond that we only have JRS who is a youth player with about 3 minutes of PL football under his belt.

A striker is always the headline grabber and focal point of much commentary but TBH I would prioritise a winger with the current players we have. With neither JPM nor Edouard going, and Franca (who from what I gather is a central player) hopefully destined to be fit sometime before Xmas, I'm guessing this was not a huge concern. The Ekitike fiasco seems like a shot in the dark, with anyone's guess as a motive, without any serious intent.

The Henderson deal seems all the more strange now, I genuinely thought we'd be in for one if not more attacking players at the very least to replace Wilf. I'm guessing they think full back is covered although I'd suggest a lot of fans would upgrade both flanks if possible. Seems to be a number of players, of no real outstanding quality, that have formed a quantity superseding quality look to things: Mitchell, Schlupp, Ward, Richards, Clyne and now Holding.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that Parish and co. have decided that we have enough to finish 17th or above but also they are still employing a very long term, strategic approach to everything. The core of now two very good GKs, Andersen/Guehi, Lerma/Doucoure & Eze/Olise still remains. I would suggest Franca is expected to be included in that cohort which would eventually make it 8 positions in the starting XI sorted, with everybody else just qualifying as padding to keep the team from catastrophe as we seek to expand the stadium.

If that anywhere near resembles reality it may be very good in the long run but very frustrating in the short term, which is where I expect a lot of people are tonight, have been previously and may well be in the future.

In any instance, COYP. My prediction for Wolves is either 0-0 or 1-1 but would be nice to have something to cheer off the back of this.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Get on the train on Saturday, come to Selhurst and sing your heart out for your club. We've don bloody well overall and Parish has assembled a great team and manager. Come and get behind them I'll be there at least two hours before to soak it in. Can't wait.

Its why Im Palace.

Absolutely no question about any of that.

Ultimately we all want the same thing for the club and the difference of opinion lies in how we get it or whether we can get it.

Personally I just find it very disappointing that we are so close to having a great team and haven't seen fit to take.that final leap of investment. Even Roy was saying we're three players short last week before, apparently, changing his mind.

Anyway, you are correct. Onwards and upwards. Let's hope we beat Wolves.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Hopefully one day pepole will wake up and smell the coffee. It’s embarrassing the position we’re in with players what parish is doing with palace is no better than what Mike Ashley did with Newcastle and Karl oyston did with Blackpool. Slowly sucking the life out the club and playing with fire. The sooner he has gone the better taken us as far as he can go. They day the weasel sells his stake in the club the club will be in a better place. I hope he gets as much stick from fans as possible. Will probably be to late by the time a lot of pepole wake up

I'm upset that we didn't sign a striker but hopefully Olise and Franca will be back within a month or so and it'll feel like two new signings.

Also think signing Rob Holding for £4m is a very smart bit of business. He's a very underated player inmho.

THIS! Too many fans suffering from Stockhold syndrome. Parish is no better than Mike Ashley. If you can't see it by now it's too late for you - you're under the spell. 3 weeks into the season to secure a squad is disgraceful. Only employs managers who will not demand anything. Buys cheapies and ends up with damaged goods. I love this club and will continue supporting this club but I refuse to support Parish. His ambition is to spend as little as possible to finish 17th or higher, but no higher than 8th because that would mean Europe and Parish would feel forced to spend. Yes, you heard it here first, that cheapskate Parish does NOT want Palace to finish higher that 8th. Why do you think he's buying goalies and defenders and NOT strikers? A prolific striker may get you into Europe whereas a solid defence with minimal strike-power saves you from relegation. I can imagine the comments now to this: "trust Parish he knows more than us thousands of F-Wit idiots and he's so rich and therefore so much better and smarter and more loving than us masses of idiots...just take your place on the bottom with us and worship Parish..." F-OFF

Listen to yourself. Stockholm syndrome. Please listen to yourself. "I..I'm a little upset he bashed me again...but...he's under a lot of pressure...in a month or so he'll get the promotion he's been waiting for...then it will be different...he's really loving deep inside...you just don't understand him...and honestly, sometimes I really do deserve it"

Not strikers though. Mateta and Edouard should not be starting. Also even if they do if they get injured we are stuffed. We even lost Gordon out on loan yesterday who is also an attacker. We should have blocked all loans not just the rak sakyi one. Regardless of everything. We should have got a striker and to not get one is absolute unacceptable. Don’t care if it wasn’t our fault on missing out. You don’t leave it that late. Absolute disgrace!!!

There's nothing logical or sound about having one LB in the squad.

Why do we wait three weeks into the season to buy our players? Who else does that? Are Brentford or Brighton in better financial positions than us? 11 years in the prem and we still can’t secure a squad before the season starts. A joke. And this is what happens: The players lose confidence, more work is demanded by other players to cover weak players and so they get injured, players from other clubs avoid us because we’re a cheap joke with no ambition or likelihood to go to Europe so we can't improve, and the Parish tight-fisted cycle of surviving on scraps continures. For example, Eze lacks player support so watch him pull a hamstring trying to do it all while Parish sits on his big fat wallet. BS! But it’s my club. Not a disappointing performance from our manager or boys as a disappointing performance from Parish not supporting the boys. Look at Ward, a Palace legend, but gives Arsenal the 3 points. His position is on the bench like Schlupp too perhaps. RB has been a gaping hole since AWB but someone’s either too stupid or too cheap to fix it. If an AWB was in that position would have beaten Arsenal. We really should stop blaming the boys or Roy. Under the circumstances our management forces them to play they should all be applauded, Ward included. Yes, it's time for PARISH to show intent, but it's been this way for over a decade now. He's got all these excuses for not spending and leaving our team ragged for weeks into the seasons, but where's the effing stadium??? No more excuses: look at Brighton, Brentford, Leicester's league cup. Disgusting management behaviour. Lousy behaviour. Just two positions away from an awesome team and season: RB and striker. JUST TWO!!!!! Cough up Parish!!!!

Sorry but t how was it wards fault we lost to Arsenal?

My word, there's obviously a bout of insomnia going round. Shocking lack of brain cells seems to be a symptom of sleep deprivation. Nothing wrong with disappointment (and even anger) with this window, but to call Parrish a weasel?
