There is absolutely no question that things could be better with Palace. But that applies to one degree or another up and down this league, and all of the others that make up the football league. Edited by Putitout (15 Feb 2021 1.23pm)

So because one fan considers a coach to be in the same mould as Hassenhuttl, it is appropriate to compare Schmidt to Southampton’s recent results? I’ve seen tenuous connections and reasons not to take someone on before, but this has to take the biscuit.

I was thinking the same the other day. After Ollie's sweet shop raid in the transfer market with the likes of Kebe and Marange, the players that got us promoted without Wilf scrapped for their lives under him. Think there was a realisation that it was going to be a hard slog just to stay up that they really put in a shift. Doesn't seem to be anything like this around the club at the moment. Hopefully results like at Goodison last night might induce a few players to up their games. What Pulis did was truly amazing. Especially by finishing 11th. Roy only matched that achievement once, with a far better squad and more games. By comparison, this miracle that tickled pink trolls on about is a clear fabrication. Pulis also had to deal with an aging squad. Jedinak, Delaney, and Gabbidon where no spring chickens. Unfortunately for us Pulis and Alladyce showed an ambision that Roy never has, they wanted to achieve something more than just survival and Parish or the business didn't have the resources to back them so they walked. I'm not conviced the club hasn't had the resources to make a marquee signing over the past few years. Parish has shown he's willing to spend if the club has the money, but Hodgson knows that if he spends big, there will be an expectation to deliver. Hodgson just wants to get his money grabbing figures on his £4.5m a year and will do the bare minimum to get it. Success isn't something he has shown to crave or desire. He hasn't shown an interest in transfers or building for the future. He passes the buck for signings onto Freedman and won't play youngsters. He's been here 4 years, succession planning of an aging group of players is down to him as much as it is anyone else.

Mr Hodgson's objective has been to ensure we stay in the PL and thus far he has delivered within tight financial parameters. In relation to blooding youngsters he did bring AWB into the team and he has added £50 Mill to our coffers ! Furthermore, Tyrick Mitchell has been given his chance. I refer back to my comments concerning an aged squad not being replaced by younger, more vibrant players.

Pulis and BFS had futures and were sought after. If we are using the prefix of Fat then I'm back to calling the geriatrics Woy. Woy knows he has no future after us and is milking supporters for his pension.

It's high octane, high defending, constant pressing, physical stuff. How would our players handle that style exactly? We'd lose ten nil and half our team would have a heart attack.

My son has watched his teams a lot, apparently he was possibly in the frame before we went for FDB
