Gatland has announced the team for Saturday and he has made a few changes. Apparently they aren't due to a loss or form but either injuries or saving the players for later in the competition. The boys have been working hard on the scrum this week and Jenkins is not in the squad. Whether the effort they have put in will bear dividends against Australia's scrum is more a matter of hope rather than belief in my opinion. Interesting to see Anscombe come in as full back with Liam Williams, Tipuric and North. The last few games against the Aussies have been really close so I'm hoping we have learnt from them.

Tips was a predictable and eminently sensible selection but have to say the re-shuffle in the backs is not the way I would have done it. Sanjay's return is a plus but I'd have kept North on the wing and Tyler Morgan in the centre. Cuthbert at this point is a bit of headless chicken (tackles like one too). Still cannot believe I'll be at Twickenham. Don't underestimate the importance of this game either; it's not a stretch to say that whoever wins it is quite likely to be in the final. Boils down to (probably) Scotland then France or Ireland for the winner; South Africa and then the All Blacks for the loser. Think we know who Wales would prefer.

If there's one thing Gatland has got wrong this RWC it's the omission of Adam Jones

Looks like Bomber is goooooooooone. Nick Mallet was approached this week about the English coaching job....and said "no thanks". Surprisingly, not reported in the media over here but guess that reflects the fact that now England are out of the World Cup, the papers are going back to football.

I hate criticising refs but why Lacey didn't award a penalty try to Tonga is a mystery.

I think they may tire but they have given the All Blacks a really good game.

You're spot on about that. A lot of the matches between the so-called lesser sides against the bigger ones seem to be pretty close until the last 10-20 minutes. I'd love to see a team like Canada have an all professional side, with the training and support set up the first tier countries have, and then play in a World Cup. It'd be really interesting to see the results.

I never realised that these two were classmates at Whitchurch school in Cardiff. Must have been something special in the school meals when they were growing up:
