That downed star destroyer reminds of an old Computer game (& one of the greatest games ever made) Wing Commander 3 by Chris Roberts, it came out in 1994. The downed ship is the TCS Concordia.
The mountains are calling & I must go. |

Glad to see that there's such a positive buzz about this: it was the most amazing/surreal 16 months I've ever experienced. I can't elaborate much more than what you already know but: -this is a completely new story. Forget any expanded universe material, this was written by JJ & Larry Kasdan- both who are absolute top guys. -it's The Resistance vs The First Order. As you can tell from the trailer, both are familiar. -Jakku is HOT! We shot in Abu Dhabi for a month. That opening shot of the crashed X-Wing/Star Destroyer was filmed about 20km from the Saudi border. I was part of the small unit who filmed it. -John Boyega plays a blinder, I was there for his final screen test when it was down to him & 1 other actor. He smashed it... Fully deserved too because he was a really nice guy with zero ego. -Chewie looks great for his age in the trailer but his slightly grey Clooney effect should show more when you see him full length. -this movie will be nothing like the prequels. We built a vast amount of sets/vehicles/props/creatures for real. And it all looked amazing. Now, have they given something away for a part of the story ? Luke says the force is strong in his family, My father has it. But he is dead right ? Burned in Return of the Jedi. I know its nerdy, but I am looking forward to this.

Also another Star Wars franchised movie spin off next year - Rogue One, which deals with the events prior to a New Hope and after Revenge of the Sith. Plus the new Star Wars Battlefront and the exceptionally beautiful Star Wars Amada board / War game - I might as well just sign over my money directly....
