First thing I thought of was Last Exit (To Brooklyn though JM - you're going the wrong way ). The film would've been easy to mess up (it's so controversial that it would have a viewers market whatever the quality) but it nailed it I think. Seriously bleak. I've said my piece on Requiem a couple of times before. No need to stir up old wounds Possible shouts for films better then the books could arguably be ... Saw Stephen King's It before i read the book (all 1,000+ pages) and both scared the crap out of me, but both were very good,never been a fan of clowns since though. interviewed on 2/5/2010 at hillsborough by BBC, highlight of my tv career.

Saw Stephen King's It before i read the book (all 1,000+ pages) and both scared the crap out of me, but both were very good,never been a fan of clowns since though.

For me books better than films: Virtually every Stephen King book (especially Needful Things, Dark Half and Pet Semetary). I quite liked the Shining but the Kubrick film did miss a lot of important detail and Stephen King hated it. A Clockwork Orange (the film totally missed the main point of the book). The Hunger Games. The books are amazing (IMO). The films are almost as good but you're left there wondering what happened to some of the story. Films better than books: Trainspotting. I love Irvine Welsh but I thought the film flowed better and made more sense than the book. It was turned more into a storyline by the film. Still a good book though.

For me books better than films:
Virtually every Stephen King book (especially Needful Things, Dark Half and Pet Semetary).
I quite liked the Shining but the Kubrick film did miss a lot of important detail and Stephen King hated it.
A Clockwork Orange (the film totally missed the main point of the book).
The Hunger Games. The books are amazing (IMO). The films are almost as good but you're left there wondering what happened to some of the story.
