Amazed how some people will twist any situation to bash Pardew. Complain that McCarthy is a useless Pardew signing when he's spilling shots to opposition strikers every 10 minutes, then complain that Pardew has sold some kind of super-keeper just because McCarthy has become third choice England keeper during an injury crisis. So true. Let's be honest pardew was right to sell mccarthy. I just looking at the potential England gks and there ruddy, I don't think he plays for norwich anymore. Rob green -Have an england chance and too old. Or Karl darlow who is newcastle number 2. Personally I would of called up Bentley, he is young and has great potential.

He has only just left Palace and as yet has done nothing at Southampton nor has he actually played for England. If it was March next year and he'd been playing blinders for Saints and had become England no1 keeper then we'd be justified in questioning the decision to sell. But now?

He was awful for us and so understandably we cashed in as we had plenty of keepers. Its more of a worry for the England set up in general though that his performances last season went un-noticed!! There's hope for Tom Soares yet!!

The Op stating shame no-one saw his potential? he hasn't kicked a ball for Southampton yet!?! He also was horrifically below standard every time he played for us, and when he got a further chance against Liverpool he was awful... He would be 4th choice in our current setup and shows you how little depth England goalkeeping has.

Surely there must be plenty of decent English keepers in the Championship who play regularly? Allardyce's message appears to be "...join a Prem club, sit on the bench and improve your chances of selection" !
