Maybe not but all players will need Freedman's personal opinion and seal of approval. He no doubt looked at lots after being recommended quite a few of them.

If true then he only could have watched them up to mid-November when the Swedish season ended (Rakip) or the Danish had a winter break.

Poland began their winter break on Dec 17th.

With that in mind, why wait so long into the window to try and sign them if he was sure? Particularly with Rakip who was a free agent until 19 January.

The way some people go on about what Dowie did for us is funny when you think how he sh*t on us when he left.

If you were with a bird for 3 years and it ended with her running off with a bloke you hate would you reminisce over how good she was for you or hate her for doing what she did?

It's not what you do but how you do it and who you do it with. Dowie is an utter tnuc for what he did!

This.

How the fcuk does Dowie get to be a speaker (paid no doubt) at a Palace thing on 9 May? Does no one at the club remember he walked out on us to be closer to his family in the North West, whilst his satnav took him to the big top down at clown town!

agreed. It was an ugly decision.

I remember feeling glad when he left 'to live closer to his family', and as i recall that was the abundant feeling of most palace fans i knew. The Championship season culminating in the Play Off defeat at Watford was very poor, he was playing his stupid lopsided formations (and Tom Soares week in week out) and it just seemed his time at the club had run out.

When he appeared at Charlton i remember thinking 'hes taken the piss out of jordan', but i didnt regret for a minute that he'd gone.

Since then his stock has plummeted, his double act with Shearer at Newcastle was particularly funny. The f***ing headsets lol...

But after all that he's always spoken very well of palace, and clearly has the club in his heart.

Ultimately i dont think he's a rotter at all. A bit of a pillock who we got by far the best (only) tune out of managerially. A mate of mine's met him at a business function and had a few beers with him and said he's a good laugh, candid about his time at the Palace, and a friendly fella. Let bygones be bygones i say.

Far less of a villain than the smarmy Freedman IMHO.

I might be wrong but wasn't he interviewed recently for the job, possibly when we got Sam? Apparently he impressed Parish?

Well that's just mental comparing the two of them. Dowie walked out at the end of a play off defeat. Ok he thought he was being clever with Jordan in getting out of his deal, but he in no way stitched the club up. Venables, err allegedly, robbed us blind once on the pitch and once in the accounts. Dowie genuinely likes the club, always is positive and when reports or discussing Palace you can tell his heart's in the club. Venables is just an out and out crook.

But for some of us older fans, even El Tel still has a big place in our palace supporting hearts, first time around has some great memories of a great team, and another example of how it’s hard to hate someone and wipe out years of enjoyment because of how they leave or comeback unsuccessfully, well it is for me anyway!!
