I was very young at the time, so perspectives were a little different, but didn't Kenny Sansom have a decent launch on him?

Steve Coppell also had a long throw in his armoury and I have a feeling it was him who took the throw which was flicked on at the near post for Bryan Robson to volley in for that early goal in the World Cup. I have noticed in more recent times in the professional game the high looping throw - don't recall it being used back in the old days but maybe it is my memory that is not as sharp as it was once.

I think Ive Cracked it ! We have a fresh player who does little else ,will always be loitering around the place where the ball goes out without any indication he wants to recieve it so may as well take it . Train the lad up to launch it into the box and derision will turn to joy , a hero will be born .

Our Kenny could throw the ball a distance, but anyone would be better than that plank at Man City yesterday(Mindy) who was 2 foot over the touch line before releasing it! Edited by Gary St.Andrews (26 Aug 2018 7.34am)

Yep, he was good, but not as good as bobby As far as I can remember, Bobby Woodruff was the first long throw in specialist anywhere. Certainly we had seen nothing like it at the palace before, his throw-ins were as good as corners! The whole crowd was stunned when he took his first throw-in after we signed him. Unfortunately I believe it led to him having serious back problems requiring operations in later life.

Didn't someone weird like Dean Moxey have a really long throw, someone did around that time, I think it was him.
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |

I think our coaching staff have banned Wilf from taking throws. One leg always used to end up somewhere over his shoulder. Historically, he has been excellent at wasting throws from promising upfield positions. I see in the Press today that Klopp has appointed a specialist throw-in coach at L’pool

Swear I saw a few foul throws by Watford yesterday, refs don't give them anymore for some reason even when obvious,,, or was one given? The Brew Dog Punk IPA and half a bottle of red has clouded my memory
