Charlie was groundbreaking at the time, they brought rave music to the mainstream, always loved dancing to out of space in my blue orchid days! Poison is a brilliant choon. Liam Howlett is the artist behind prodigy, it says Keith was singer and dancer but correct me if I'm wrong he could do neither?

I have a gas engineer I know called Keith who services/fixes boilers for me. Have been using him for years. Without fail, every time I see him I sing 'I am the fire starter' Think he may of laughed the first time.

Firestarter is bl00dy annoying. When I first heard ‘Smack my b1tch up’ I didn’t like it but when you give it time and listen carefully to the creativity and helter skelter of musical rhythm and genre it’s really excellent. The video and short story is up there as well. Loved the Indian temple music infusion. I prefer their rave stuff and personally don’t like their aggressive, try and be cosmetically frightening rock stuff, but many did. I agree, I've never invested time since Fat Of The land, although it's an album that really grew on me and unlike Experience and Jilted Generation it hasn't aged. Some of the drum sequences on there are insane. [Link] 7:07 onwards I still consider it their 'later stuff', despite being released in '97. I wish the album ended with Climatize, but it ended with Fuel my Fire, which just confirmed that our musical tastes had evolved in different directions. Jilted will always be the one for me.

The talk black guy was THE dancer. And that cat meowing on Charlie may have sounded funny and a bit of a gimmick but it was creatively really clever. Melodic, tuneful, with a cat meow sample, almost like a record scratching.

On their live performances Maxim is the far more dominant front man than Keith, it's just he was the face of their most iconic single so is perceived as the main guy. Line ups change, hopefully they'll carry on

I had considered that myself, that this won't change their sound much if they carry on. As a front man though, he was a real presence.

Had the chance to see them live a few years ago and didn't go. Bugger.

a lot of people only know about them from the firestarter days, which is a real shame. if you havnt heard it, search out “the experience” album, literally the prodigy had a huge influence in shaping the jungle scene. one of my favourite albums of all time, stands out as one of my prized gatefold vinyl albums that i am utterly proud to own. RIP Keith, you introduced me to bass music, and for that, i am forever grateful.
