If we slap a figure at that level on him then hopefully those interested would be put off. Let’s face it, he would be difficult to replace for £20m so why would you sell him at that price? No one wants Luka to go, but in a years time he is worth nothing if he is out of contract, you cant let that happen, sign or sold is the only option, we are already a year late on this being resolved.

Don’t fool yourselves we’re mid table because we’re not. We spend 33-34 matches of the season 2-3 places above the relegation zone. Time to make decisions on luka right now if he won’t sign a reasonable offer. 11th, 10th, 15th, 14th, 11th, 12th. How much more life table could you be?

(i) in our latest stint we usually finish above 14-17th so I don’t get the reference to that. (ii) who cares where you are for most of the season, it’s where you finish that counts.

The season has been over 38 games for quite a while now, not over 33-34 games.

Luka is probably at his highest value right now due to the number of games he's played and goals scored. I really think if someone comes in at 20m+ then we should consider selling. I believe Kouyate is more than adequate to do his job in midfield. We can then use the money on a striker.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Planning for the long term' by bexleydave Having a look at our team there are only 4 or 5 players who have more than 2 years left on their contract, they are Jairo Riedewald (likely to leave this season) This means majority of squad are out of contract next summer or the season after Looks like coming seasons will bring massive personal upheaval
