The bookies will make us favourites to go next seasons . They have done so for the pass 8 season so why will they change a habit of a life time .

Yes we do tend to be the one they cite to go down. Jermaine Jenas will also make the same claim on the BBC - he always does. Meanwhile, every year the same lazy punditry will claim that the newly promoted 3 will be the ones to go down and waffle on about the gulf in class etc. when every year one or two promoted teams not only survive but actually do quite well. However... I think that for once this is actually proving to be true. There genuinely is a gulf and the huge points tally amassed by Norwich and Watford will mean nothing when they come to play next season, especially if they decide to buy loads of new players who will take half a season to bed in. while far too early to tell, of the 4 teams cited by the OP, Burnley probably most likely as things stand.

I'm baffled that people are tipping us to go down next season when we haven't even finished this one yet and we all know there is potentially a lot of change will occur in the summer. By 'established', I would understand: 'most unlikely to be relegated'. I wouldn't have thought that as many as 12--14 clubs were likely relegation candidates each year. 16 of the points we've taken this season have just been relegated, and we'd do well to take 16 off the promoted teams next year, so the likelihood is we are we are going to have to up our game against the other 16 remaining teams next year. Having said that, we'll clear out a lot of dead wood this summer which gives us the chance to put together a far more competitive squad. Sakho, Dann, Wickham, Hennessey, Van Aanholt alone is about £15m/year. If Hannan gets promoted from the 23s to back-up Mitchell, Dann is the only one of them that's played any game time that needs replacing - otherwise it's free cash. We'll likely be one of the few clubs near the bottom end of the league with the room to be flexible this summer which allows us to focus on what we need and be competitive.
